Terms of Service
Effective date: August 24, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are the agreement between you and the operator of AI Character Skin (“we,” “us,” or “our”) for the website, Chrome extension, Character library, and related services (together, the “Services”).
By creating an account, installing the extension, or otherwise using the Services, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. What AI Character Skin is — and is not
AI Character Skin lets you equip curated Characters (“skins”) that change the tone, humor, and style of replies on third-party AI chat products, currently ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini (each a “Host Platform”).
We do not operate those Host Platforms. In particular:
- We do not provide the underlying large language model, search, tools, or knowledge of ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini.
- Equipping a Character is meant to change voice and presentation, not facts, reasoning quality, or a Host Platform’s own safety systems.
- Your use of each Host Platform remains governed by that provider’s terms, policies, and acceptable-use rules (including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google). If those terms conflict with these Terms for activity on the Host Platform, the Host Platform’s terms control that activity.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old. If you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you must be at least 16. If the law where you live requires you to be older to use online services or to consent to processing of personal data, you must meet that age.
You sign in with Google. You are responsible for the Google account you use and for activity under your AI Character Skin account. Keep access to that account secure and tell us promptly if you believe it has been misused.
You may not use the Services if you are barred under U.S. law or the laws of your residence, including if you are on a prohibited-parties list or located in a comprehensively embargoed jurisdiction.
3. The browser extension
The Chrome extension runs on our website and on Host Platform pages. It can insert Character instructions into the message you send on a Host Platform (for example as a hidden node in a composer, or as text the Host Platform will receive). That is how a Character “skin” is applied.
You understand and agree that:
- Installing the extension grants it permission to run on the Host Platform sites listed in the Chrome Web Store listing and in the extension manifest.
- Instructions we insert are sent to the Host Platform as part of your session there. The Host Platform may store, log, review, or use that material under its own policies, which may include training or safety review.
- Host Platform websites change without notice. Selectors, injection, or the floating picker may break. We will try to keep the extension working, but we do not warrant uninterrupted compatibility.
- You must not use the extension to evade a Host Platform’s safety systems, scrape content in violation of that platform’s terms, or interfere with other users.
4. Characters, library, and our intellectual property
First-party Characters (names, descriptors, portraits, personality definitions, and compiled instructions) are owned by us or our licensors. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to use them through the Services for your personal, non-commercial use, as the product is designed.
You may not copy, sell, reverse engineer, republish, or train other models on our Character definitions or portraits except as allowed by law or with our written permission. Feedback you send us may be used freely to improve the Services, without obligation to you.
The Services may later include user-created or marketplace Characters. If we offer that, extra terms will apply. Until then, do not upload Character definitions you do not have the right to use.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Violate any law, or anyone’s privacy, publicity, or intellectual-property rights.
- Use a Character or the extension to generate or solicit child sexual abuse material, to exploit minors, or to engage in illegal activity.
- Attempt to jailbreak, disable, or circumvent Host Platform or AI Character Skin safety or access controls.
- Probe, overload, or disrupt the Services, or reverse engineer them except as the law allows.
- Resell, sublicense, or provide the Services as a competing hosted product, or scrape the library for that purpose.
- Impersonate AI Character Skin, a Host Platform, or another person in a way that is deceptive or harmful.
- Rely on Character-styled output as professional medical, legal, financial, or other regulated advice.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe violate these Terms or create risk for us, other users, or Host Platforms.
6. Beta, paid features, and refunds
We may offer a free open beta, a time-limited trial, and paid access such as a one-time Essentials package. The current public offer is described on the site (two-week open beta through October 26, 2026, then a 7-day trial, then a $9.99 one-time Essentials purchase, unless we post a change). The price, what’s included, and whether a charge is one-time or recurring will be shown at checkout or on the site before you pay.
Paid features may be billed by a third-party processor (for example Stripe). Card details are handled by that processor, not stored in full on our servers.
Unless required by law, fees are non-refundable once the paid period or license has begun, and trials may convert to paid access only if you complete a purchase — we will not invent a charge that the checkout flow did not authorize. We may change prices for future purchases with notice on the site. Taxes may apply.
If billing is not yet enabled in your environment, open-beta or “trial” language on marketing pages does not create a paid obligation until you actually complete a purchase.
7. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect and use personal information. A core design choice: we are not trying to store your Host Platform chat transcripts on our servers. Character instructions still travel to the Host Platform when you send a message with a skin equipped.
8. Third-party services
The Services depend on Google sign-in, hosting and database providers, analytics (when enabled), payment processors, and Host Platforms. Those parties have their own terms. We are not responsible for outages, policy changes, account bans, or content decisions on Host Platforms.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
Character-styled replies are generated by Host Platforms, not by us. Output can be wrong, biased, offensive, or unsafe. You are responsible for how you use it. Do not treat it as a substitute for a qualified professional or for the Host Platform’s own answers without a skin.
We do not warrant that the extension will always appear on a Host Platform, that injection will succeed, or that a Host Platform will honor, hide, or ignore inserted instructions.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, AND CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF THE SERVICES IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICES IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100). SOME PLACES WILL NOT ENFORCE A CAP THIS LOW. IF A COURT STRIKES OR NARROWS THIS LIMIT, OUR LIABILITY IS STILL CAPPED AS LOW AS THAT PLACE’S LAW ALLOWS — WE ARE NOT AGREEING TO UNLIMITED OR “MAXIMUM” DAMAGES.
11. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify us against claims, damages, and reasonable legal fees arising from your misuse of the Services, your violation of these Terms or of a Host Platform’s terms, or content you cause to be sent to a Host Platform, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Services and delete your account by contacting us (and by uninstalling the extension and, if you wish, disconnecting Google access). We may suspend or end access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Services. Sections that should reasonably survive (including IP, disclaimers, limits on liability, indemnity, and disputes) will survive.
13. Disputes
Contact us first at legal@aicharacterskin.com and allow 30 days to try to resolve the issue informally.
Except where prohibited (including for many consumers in the EEA/UK), you and we agree that disputes arising out of these Terms or the Services will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, not in court, and not as a class, collective, or representative action. Either party may bring an individual action in small-claims court. Either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual-property misuse.
You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first agreeing to these Terms by emailing legal@aicharacterskin.com with the subject line “Arbitration opt-out” and the email on your account. If you opt out, or if arbitration is not allowed where you live, exclusive venue for court actions is the state or federal courts in the State of California, United States, except that EEA/UK consumers may use courts in their country of residence as required by local law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, excluding conflict-of-law rules, except that the Federal Arbitration Act governs the arbitration agreement, and except for mandatory consumer protections that apply in your country of residence.
14. Changes
We may update these Terms. We will change the effective date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice (for example by email or in the product) where required. Continued use after the new date means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Services.
15. General
These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us about the Services. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, sale, or reorganization. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. There are no third-party beneficiaries except as stated for Host Platforms’ own terms, which remain between you and those providers.
